It gave me great pleasure to collect a cheque for £6575 following the success of the CEO Sleepout at Notts County in October. The Friary has been hugely privileged to have been involved in the inaugural CEO Sleepout in Nottingham. We have been blown away by the support and engagement and we are hugely thankful to all those who attended on the night or offered their support through sponsorship.
The Friary is very much a local charity, using local resources to help local people in need and so the opportunity to engage so many influential local executives in raising awareness of homelessness in Nottingham was truly invaluable for us. Additionally it was a privilege to work alongside the 3 other fantastic local charities involved and we are particularly thankful to Notts County Football in the Community for hosting the event.
The funds raised will go directly to helping to fund the advice, health and support services that we deliver for local people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Every year we cater for over 15,000 local people who are in crisis. Pete has been coming to Friary for many years and has been homeless several times. As a result of the support offered by the Friary he is now happily installed in a little bedsit, with his dog, and where he can cook for himself. “You’re made welcome and made to feel human again. Without Friary I’d still be out there!” he says.
The funds generated by the Nottingham CEO Sleepout will help us assist more people like Pete into stable accommodation and independence. A huge thanks to all those who helped create this local success story and we very much look forward to continuing to engage the local community in ensuring that support is there for local people in crisis.
