In January we opened our allotment gates to our service users for the first time in over 10 years. We have created a welcoming, peaceful space outdoors for a range of activities.
Our first session was in celebration of National Popcorn Day – where we cooked up our own popcorn from scratch.
Then we decorated some signs for the raised beds around our allotment.
riday the 26th of January was National Hot Chocolate Day and we celebrated it with some homemade cocoa topped with whipped cream and marshmallows.
For the final week of January we put on our wellies and got crafty. Two teams each made a scarecrow from donated and scavenged items. Meet Worzel and Gummidge – they’re outstanding in their field!
We have lots of exciting activities planned for February – look out for our celebration of National Chilli Day and our end of month fun and games session!
If you’d like to volunteer with our allotment project please contact jen.blake@the-friary.org.uk. Our activities take place on Wednesdays and Fridays between 10am and 2pm.
If you are unable to volunteer, then please consider donating to the project here.
We are also accepting donations of unwanted arts & crafts supplies. Thank you for your support, let’s grow together!
